PRESS RELEASE
Leeds, UK, 6 December 2006
Health sciences journal The Pain Clinic has been bought by Maney Publishing in a deal with Brill. The journal, formerly published by VSP, a subsidiary of Brill, is the official journal of the World Society of Pain Clinicians (WSPC) and will be added to Maney's existing list of healthcare titles in print and online.
Matthias Wahls, Business Development Manager of Brill said: “This journal is an important resource in pain research, but had become somewhat isolated within Brill. We are pleased it is going to a good home with Maney Publishing.”
Michael Gallico, Managing Director of Maney Publishing, welcomes the latest acquisition: “The Pain Clinic is an excellent addition to our healthcare list and will further increase diversity in the scope of our journals. We look forward to working with the WSPC to ensure a smooth transition period and to continue its highly regarded work in the field of pain research.”
The Pain Clinic focuses on the clinical methods used and the problems involved in the diagnosis and treatment of persistent and recurrent types of pain. This interdisciplinary journal provides a forum in which pain clinicians can exchange new ideas and experiences, and communicate information on methods of pain prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Its scope includes anaesthesia, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, orthopaedic surgery, palliative care, psychiatry and rheumatology. It is already hosted on Ingenta Connect, and will now be incorporated into the MORE (Maney Online Research E-journals) healthcare collection.
About the WSPC The WSPC was founded in 1964 as a non-profit organisation to bring together international clinicians concerned with the treatment of pain. The Society aims to encourage the dissemination of information on pain around the world through its meetings, publications and scientific research on all aspects of pain.
