Resources → AuthorsProduction process

Each journal is handled by a dedicated Production Editor who will oversee the progress of articles and issues from delivery of copy, through copyediting, proofing and to print and online publication.

Submission
In order to ensure that production runs as smoothly as possible it is important that Academic Editors adhere to the production process and supply requirements of their particular journal and that authors submit papers to correct journal style and specification. Details regarding submission and related requirements (such as figure supply information) can be found at Submitting a Paper.  Instructions for Authors will differ for all journals so please ensure that these are carefully referred to since each journal will have slightly different procedures. These Instructions state how and where to submit a paper; the type of contributions accepted; and important information on style and layout.

Please also see the following handy submission checklist which lists the essential submission requirements:

  • Full contact details for all authors including email addresses and affiliations; indicate which author is to receive correspondence – including their postal address.
  • Title, abstract, keywords, note/s on contributor/s (author biography).
  • Endnotes or footnotes correspond to text markers.
  • Reference list follows the journal style [follow the relevant journal links to view Instructions for Authors]
  • Text citations match the reference list and vice versa.
  • Figures are in colour where possible, are submitted in separate files from text (or are placed at the end of the file), with high resolution for reproduction, and with fonts embedded. See Submitting a Paper.
  • Figure and table captions/headings/sources supplied.
  • File names include author name and short journal title/acronym.
  • Written permission for copyrighted material supplied. [View the Copyright and Permissions page.]

Production status- tracking articles using

ManeyTrack is Maney Publishing's web-based production tracking system. Via Maney Track Authors are able to view the live production status of articles. Key estimated and actual production stages and dates, such as expected proof receipt and publication information are displayed, and can be accessed by the author at any time.

ManeyTrack also offers Authors a secure and quick location for the payment and tracking of orders for offprints, issue copies (if the journal has a print offering) and to make an article open access via Maney's MORE OpenChoice offering.

Log-in details for ManeyTrack are supplied via email to the corresponding Author once his/her paper has entered production.

Proof mark up
Proofing is generally managed electronically, and we encourage Editors and Authors to facilitate the Comment Mark up tools within free Adobe Reader software. See the guidelines for a guide to marking up enabled PDFs. Alternatively, Authors and Editors can correct proofs manually using standard proof correction marks, and either scan or fax proofs for return. See the standard proof correction marks.
For details of proof handling and correction for specific journals see journal Instructions for Authors on the relevant journal page.

Maney’s Production Editors are part of a supportive team which includes Managing Editors, Marketing Executives and Customer Service and Sales Executives.  Our primary aim is to make the actual process of producing a journal (print and online) as smooth and as timely as possible.
