Aims and Scope
Slavonica publishes work in the fields of Russian, Central and East European Studies: literature, language, linguistics, history, politics, social issues, religion, music, culture and the arts; Russian/East European cultural links; original, or previously unpublished documents, illustrations, poetry and short prose; translations of poetry and shorter prose fiction (with commentary); feature articles of appropriate interest; reports and announcements on conferences, exhibitions and events; and anniversary tributes and obituaries. Each issue contains around thirty specialist book reviews commissioned from experts the world over on a wide range of topics: economics, history, politics, drama, arts, and music.
Slavonica is a twice-yearly publication and all articles are refereed. The language of publication is normally English.
Slavonica celebrated a 25th anniversary in 2008!
Slavonica was founded in 1983 under the title Scottish Slavonic Review, and changed to the present title in 1994. It has established itself as one of the leading international journals in the field of Slavonic and East European studies. Since 2003, and Volume 9, the journal has been published by Maney, which already publishes several other journals of Russian and Eastern European studies. Maney is committed to maintainingSlavonica's high academic standards and interdisciplinarity.
